Brief introduction / from the desk of Chairman

The Shivshakti Beej Utpadak Sahkari Samiti Maryadit, Tikamgarh has been working towards agricultural development and farmer welfare in various areas of Tikamgarh and Niwadi districts for more than 15 years. The founders of Shivshakti Beej Utpadak Sahkari Samiti Maryadit, Tikamgarh, having witnessed the struggles of rural communities firsthand, aimed to address issues like poor infrastructure, limited access to education and healthcare, and unemployment. With a focus on empowering local communities, the NGO has been working tirelessly to provide essential services, promote livelihood opportunities, and foster inclusive growth. Through their efforts, the organization has become a beacon of hope for the rural population, inspiring positive change and transforming lives is actively involved in technology dissemination through Front Line Demonstrations, trainings etc. on various crops including cereals, pulses, vegetables and flower crops in Tikamgarh and Niwadi districts. The organization has one of the best infrastructures, facilities and human resources to execute the proposed project very efficiently.

The Shivshakti Beej Utpadak Sahkari Samiti Maryadit, Tikamgarh has a rich experience to work in developmental sector of 26 districts of Rajasthan since last two decades years in the field of Watershed development, water resources development, improved agriculture & horticulture, livestock development, trainings & capacity building of farmers and women empowerment, health & sanitation sector. For the past fifteen years, Shivshakti Beej Utpadak Sahkari Samiti Maryadit, Tikamgarh have been working in a field of Agriculture and Seed Production. Approximately 2000 numbers of progressive farmers are attached directly with the cooperatives. The Cooperative Society has played an instrumental role in paradigm shift not only in seed replacement but also in varietal replacement in the area.

In the year, 2024-25

the Shivshakti Beej Utpadak Sahkari Samiti Maryadit, Tikamgarh has been awarded two numbers of soil testing laboratories at Prithwipur and Baldevgarh in Niwadi and Tikamgarh Districts respectively. So far more than 3500 soil samples have been tasted and a timely report along with judicious recommendation of package and practice of crop cultivation has been extended to the farmers.

The society has gained an experience of working for enhancing seed production of Minor oilseeds (Sesame, Linseed, Groundnut and Mustard) and pulses (Urad, Gram, Moong and Pigeon pea etc), as the minor oilseed production come under niche area of bundelkhand.

The varietal replacement programme of oilseed crops especially soybean, seasame and mustard along with promising pulse crops namely urad, moong, gram etc. ware taken up on top priority to scale up their production through the participatory selection process.

In the year 2023-24

seed production programme in an acreage of approximately 1500 acres of land for major crops namely Wheat, Gram, Mustard, Soybean, Seasameurad, moong ete had been taken up under M.P. State Seed Certification Agency, Madhya Pradesh Bhopal.

The cultivation of low input millet crop such as Barley, Bernyard Millet, Kodo etc. has been promoted in the area among small and marginal farmers to have good returns from their harvest. The members of the FPO have also been trained for millet processing with the help of subjective experts at Rani Laxmi Bai Central Agriculture University, Jhansi, JNKVV, College of Agriculture, Tikamgarh, and Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Tikamgarh.

In the year 2022-23

more than 50 numbers of trials on improved varieties of different crops under minor oilseeds and pulses had been taken up in every alternate village. Varieties were selected through participatory processes. The seed production and marketing programme were also undertaken by the connected farmer through Farmer Producers Organization (FPO) as revenue generation model.

Worked for Promotion of milk production a, nd linking small Dairy farmers with milk Collection centers of Sanchi and Amul. In order to have assured and better monetary returns, small dairy farmers of the proposed FPO has been linked with the milk collection centers of Sanchi and Amul. The supply chain has well been established in the neighboring villages as per the norms laid down by Madhya Pradesh Government to facilitate them an easy access to the collection centers.

In the year 2021-22

an extensive and continuous effort has been put forward for promotion of diversified farming in the area. Cultivating cereal and oilseed along with vegetable cultivation by smallholders was proved to be a very good income-generating activity and there was a growing market. More than 1200 farmers have been encouraged to get involved in vegetable farming.

A systematic training calendar was followed for the staff and Field Staff in coordination with NABARD and Krishi Vigyan Kendra covering the package of practices of major crops and environmental and social criteria that farmers have to follow. There was 87 numbers of Front Line Demonstrations (FLDs) for the respective crop/s for which inputs like seeds, culture, bio-fertilizers, etc. were provided.

In the year 2020-21

more than 1000 farmers have been associated with our NGO and Cooperative society for undertaking seed production prograame of major crops growing in the area. The seed production and marketing programme were also undertaken by the connected farmer through Farmer Producers Organization (FPO) as revenue generation model.

In the year 2019-20

several training programmes were conducted for progressive farming encouraging them for seed production and crop diversification.

More than 70 numbers of trials on improved varieties of different crops under minor oilseeds and pulses had been taken up in every alternate village. Varieties were selected through participatory processes. The seed production and marketing programme were also undertaken by the connected farmer through Farmer Producers Organization (FPO) as revenue generation model.
